Currently, the plastic windows are rapidly taking their place in our homes. People who have installed plastic windows, quickly become accustomed to the comfort that is created by them. Many people think that PVC windows are quite a young product. However, they are not. They have been around for over half a century and as to the polyvinyl chloride constituting the window profile, there is not much time left to its bicentennial anniversary.
PVC was one of the first synthetic materials which found application in construction. It was firstly obtained in 1835, however, there was no any further development of the discovery. People again became interested in it almost 100 years later, in 1912 they began to study the possibility of its manufacture and in 1935 the industry began its production.
In 50-ies of the 20th century, PVC was used for the manufacture of window profiles, in this process soft plastic was applied to a metal base. Later for making frames solid PVC reinforced with metal was used.
Plastic windows did not immediately gain popularity, manufacturers had to use different marketing even free windows installation. But after a while the demand for PVC windows became much higher.
Plastic windows today are high - tech complex design having a number of advantages in comparison with wooden ones. They are resistant to adverse weather, are not deformed, they are easy to maintain and decorate. And that's not all. They have excellent sound insulation, energy-efficiency, shock-resistant characteristics. In this regard, it is easy to understand why the replacement of wooden windows with plastic is gaining increasingly growing popularity.
