Curious cats and dogs often treat a window as a perfect lookout point — and that can quickly turn dangerous. But there are simple ways to keep your pets safe around PVC windows.
Start with the ventilation mode. A standard tilted sash is one of the biggest hazards: a pet can get stuck in the gap and get injured. Instead, use special restrictors that fix the sash with a gap of no more than 3–4 cm, or set the “micro‑ventilation” mode if it reliably prevents wide opening.
Install protective nets. A regular mosquito net won’t do the job: a pet can easily push through it with their weight or claws. Choose reinforced options like “anti‑cat” nets: they have stronger threads, finer weave, and secure fastening all around the perimeter.
Remove items near the window. Chairs, cabinets, and boxes that a pet could jump onto should be moved away — this reduces the risk of them leaping onto the windowsill and accidentally falling.
Add extra barriers. For panoramic windows and balconies, lightweight решётка‑style guards work well: they block the opening while still letting light and air through. On balcony doors, soft framed nets are convenient — they create a physical barrier without spoiling the interior look.
Don’t rely on mosquito nets, and never leave windows open unattended. Even a calm pet might suddenly jump at a bird or a rustle.
Check the fastenings regularly: over time, screws and clips can loosen. Safety isn’t a one‑time fix but a habit — check, tighten, and remove unnecessary jumping points. That way, the window stays a safe spot for observation instead of a source of risk.
