PVC windows in regions with a warm Mediterranean climate address slightly different needs than in colder areas: here, protection from the sun, good ventilation and privacy are more important than insulation. Nevertheless, many buyers stick to basic parameters by habit — colour, shape and standard noise insulation — overlooking useful additional options.
Few people consider automatically regulated ventilation valves. They are often seen as an unnecessary extra, although in hot climates they help ensure a constant supply of fresh air without fully opening the sashes — and, as a result, without the risk of overheating the room.
Fine‑mesh or ‘anti‑dust’ mosquito nets are also rarely in demand. Almost everyone has standard nets, but upgraded versions that trap pollen and fine dust are seldom chosen — although they are especially relevant in coastal and arid areas of the Mediterranean.
Tinted or mirrored glass is not often selected either: many believe it darkens the room. In reality, it effectively reduces heat gain from sunlight, lowering the load on air conditioning, and provides privacy without curtains.
Another underappreciated option is glass with a UV filter. It lets light through but blocks harmful ultraviolet radiation, protecting furniture and interior finishes from fading. Many do not think about this until they notice how quickly fabrics and wallpapers fade in bright sunlight.
Finally, roll‑up mosquito nets or pleated screens remain a niche solution. They are more convenient than standard nets: they roll up easily, can be adjusted to different heights, and fit more tightly to the frame.
These options have not become widespread not because they are useless, but due to a lack of awareness. In conditions of strong sunlight and warm climate, they can significantly improve comfort — it’s worth taking a closer look at them.
