After renovation work, PVC windows often bear traces of construction dust, paint, glue or монтажная foam. You can restore their cleanliness without much effort — the key is to act carefully and choose the right products.
Start by removing large contaminants: gently scrape them off with a plastic or rubber scraper to avoid scratching the surface. Then move on to cleaning. For regular dust and light stains, use a warm soapy solution (dishwashing gel or laundry soap) and a soft sponge or microfiber cloth. Wipe down the profile, glass and windowsill, then rinse off any soap residue with clean water and dry thoroughly.
For stubborn stains, treat them spot‑by‑spot:
Construction foam. Fresh foam can be removed mechanically; for any residue, use special cleaners (e.g., PENOSIL Premium Foam Cleaner or “Fenozol”). Avoid acetone and nitro compounds — they can damage PVC.
Glue. Dilute 70 % vinegar with water in a 1 : 10 ratio and gently wipe with the rough side of a sponge.
Paint. Water‑based paint can be washed off with a soapy solution; for oil‑based or acrylic paint, first soften it with a hairdryer, then carefully remove it with a scraper.
Plaster or putty. Moisten the stains for 5–10 minutes, then wipe them away with a soft cloth.
Finally, treat the seals with a soapy solution and lubricate them with silicone grease — this will extend the service life of the windows. Use a soft cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners and stiff brushes: they can leave scratches.
By following these simple steps, you’ll quickly restore your PVC windows to their original shine and cleanliness, preserving their appearance for years to come.
