How to Make Sure Your New PVC Window Is of High Quality

A new PVC window should last for years, reliably protecting you from heat and noise — so it’s important to check its quality before or right after installation.

Start with the profile: it should be smooth, without chips or scuffs, and have well‑defined edges. The colour must be uniform, with no yellowing or stains — this indicates good raw materials and proper manufacturing. The sealant should run evenly around the entire perimeter, be elastic, and fit tightly against the frame; this prevents drafts.

The glazing unit is another key element. There should be no condensation, dust, or streaks between the panes — these signs point to a loss of герметичность (airtightness). Check the number of chambers: for a temperate climate, a double‑glazed unit is the minimum recommended. The glass edges should be neatly finished, with no sharp chips.

Hardware shows the window’s true quality: handles should turn smoothly, without play or creaking; sashes should open and close easily, without extra force. Pay attention to the strike plates and cam pins — they should be aligned and not skewed.

Installation matters just as much: the frame must be perfectly level, and the installation joints should be filled with foam and covered with vapour‑ and water‑resistant tapes. Gaps are unacceptable: even a small one can become a source of cold and moisture over time.

Finally, ask for documentation: a certificate for the profile, the product passport, and warranty terms. This isn’t just a formality — it’s your safeguard. Proper paperwork confirms the window’s quality and ensures it will truly be a reliable barrier between the outdoors and your cosy home.
