How PVC Windows Are Installed: A Brief Overview

Installing PVC windows is a meticulous process that demands strict adherence to technology at every stage. Let’s walk through the key steps.

First, a specialist takes precise measurements of the window opening, accounting for wall specifics such as reveals (quarter ledges). Once measurements are confirmed, the custom window is manufactured and delivered to the site.

Next comes removal of the old window. The process starts with taking off the sashes and glazing beads, followed by careful extraction of the glass unit. Then the old frame, windowsill, and drip sill are dismantled. The opening is thoroughly cleaned from debris and remnants of old sealants.

After clearing the opening, preparation begins. Surfaces are cleaned, leveled if needed, and primed. Any cracks or irregularities are repaired. Then, specialized tapes are applied to the frame: an internal vapor barrier tape and an external waterproof tape.

The core stage is frame installation. The new frame is positioned in the opening and meticulously aligned both horizontally and vertically. It’s then securely fastened using anchors or mounting plates. Following this, the external drip sill is mounted — it serves dual purposes: water diversion and noise reduction.

Sealing is the next critical step. Gaps between the frame and wall are filled with expanding foam. After the foam cures, excess material is carefully trimmed away. Then glass units and sashes are reinstalled into the frame.

The final touches involve installing the windowsill and откосы (wall trims). These components not only enhance the aesthetic finish but also protect the sealing joints. The last step is adjusting all hardware — hinges, locks, and handles — and removing protective films from the profile.

For optimal, long‑lasting results, keep these key points in mind:

use only certified materials and tools;

ensure proper ventilation during and after installation;

double‑check alignment (maximum permissible deviation: 3 mm per 1 m);

apply foam moderately to prevent frame deformation.
