One of the latest inventions in the field of plastics is a reactoplast - elastomer, developed in Spain. It is able to restore not under the influence of certain external factors, but by itself. This plastic has some really wonderful properties. Two pieces of this material, connected to each other and just left alone for a few hours, at the place of the connection will have the same properties as the original material. For such an impressive recovery, the plastic does not need to be heated or irradiated with ultraviolet light. You do not need any special conditions or particular tools.
The strength of the plastic at the joint will be just 3% lower than the strength of original parts. Such a fantastic regenerative capacity, scientists were able to provide due to the special composition of the material, preferably aromatic disulfides, which are responsible for the reaction of molecular exchange.
The work on further improvements of material properties continues and it is likely that it will become the basic material for the production of various products, including plastic windows with unlimited service life. The windows of reactoplast will be produced without welding, and the production will be waste-free. This will reduce the cost and increase the popularity of the windows of the future.
