PVC Windows: From Granule to Perfect Window — How It’s Made

The production of PVC windows is a complex technological process that combines precise calculations, modern equipment, and quality control. Let’s see how reliable and durable structures are created from simple materials.

It all starts with profile manufacturing. PVC granules are fed into an extruder, where they are heated and transformed into a plastic mass. This mass passes through special dies — plates that shape the future profile. The workpiece is then cooled, calibrated, and cut into sections of the required length. If needed, the profile is laminated — covered with a decorative film in a wood‑like finish or in any other colour.

The next stage is frame and sash assembly. The profile is reinforced with a steel insert for rigidity, cut at a 45° angle, and welded on an automatic machine. The resulting corners are cleaned of burrs, and seals and fittings (hinges, locks, handles) are installed. Precision is critical here: even the slightest misalignment will compromise the window’s airtightness.

At the same time, glass unit production takes place. Glass panes are cut to size, washed with demineralised water, and assembled into a unit with a spacer bar (spacer) filled with silica gel — it absorbs moisture and prevents fogging. Inert gas (argon) is often injected between the panes to improve thermal insulation. The unit is sealed in two stages: first with a butyl compound, then with a more durable polysulphide sealant.

The final step is window assembly: the glass unit is installed into the frame and secured with glazing beads. The structure is tested for airtightness, smooth sash operation, and tight closure. Only after passing these checks is the finished window packed and shipped to the customer.

Thanks to this multi‑stage technology, PVC windows turn out to be strong, energy‑efficient, and capable of lasting for decades. Would you like me to elaborate on any particular stage?
