Stages of Installing PVC Windows

Installing PVC windows is a process that determines the thermal and sound insulation of a room, as well as the service life of the structure. Let’s go through the main installation stages — briefly and to the point.

It all starts with measuring. An experienced specialist measures the window opening, taking into account wall features and requirements for installation gaps. Accuracy at this stage is critical: even small errors can lead to problems during installation and use.

The next step is removing the old window. The sashes are carefully taken off, the glass unit is removed, the frame is dismantled, and the reveals are taken out. It’s important not to damage the opening — this will make further work easier.

Then comes preparing the opening: the surface is cleaned of old foam, dust and debris, irregularities are fixed, and, if needed, the surface is levelled and primed. A clean and even opening is key to a reliable installation.

During the frame installation stage, the structure is placed into the opening, aligned with a level (both vertically and horizontally), and secured with anchor bolts or mounting plates. Proper geometry is a must for the window system to function correctly.

After that, the seams are sealed: the gap between the frame and the wall is filled with монтажная foam (foam sealant). It provides thermal and sound insulation, but it’s not a load‑bearing element — the frame must be held by the fasteners.

Next, the drainage drip (to direct rainwater away) is installed on the outside, and the windowsill is fitted inside the room. Then the sashes and hardware are installed and adjusted — the smoothness of movement, tight fit, and operation of the opening mechanisms are checked.

The final stage is finishing the reveals and removing the protective film from the profile. After cleaning up the space, the client inspects the result: the window should open and close effortlessly, without draughts or water leaks.

Proper installation turns a PVC window into a reliable barrier against cold and noise — and ensures comfort for many years to come.
