In office spaces, it’s especially important to organise sun protection properly: excess light makes it hard to work at a computer screen, and overheating increases the load on air conditioners. Let’s look at popular solutions for PVC windows and their key features.
Blinds are a classic choice for offices. Whether horizontal or vertical, they allow precise control of the light flow, directing it upwards or downwards. Aluminium models are fade‑resistant and durable, while plastic ones are more affordable. The main advantage is easy operation and a long service life; the downside is the need for regular dusting.
Roller blinds provide uniform dimming and are compact when rolled up. Special reflective fabrics effectively bounce sunlight away, reducing indoor heat gain. Installing them on each sash offers flexible light control. The drawback is a more limited adjustment range compared to blinds.
Tinted film is applied directly to the glass and works discreetly: it reduces brightness, blocks up to 99 % of UV rays and requires no maintenance. It preserves the view from the window and suits panoramic glazing. However, the film changes the windows’ appearance from the outside and may make cleaning the glass more difficult.
Multifunctional glass in a double‑glazed unit is a high‑tech, long‑term solution. It reflects excess heat in summer and retains warmth in winter, while also protecting against UV radiation. The downside is the high cost and the need to replace the entire glazing unit.
External awnings are mounted outside and block the sun before it reaches the glass, minimising heat gain. They’re effective for large windows and facades, but require professional installation and maintenance.
Blackout curtains guarantee complete dimming — ideal for meeting rooms and spaces with projectors. However, in regular work areas they can create excessive darkness, requiring constant artificial lighting.
The optimal choice depends on your needs: for general dimming, roller blinds or blinds work well; for maximum protection, consider external awnings or multifunctional glass; and for a quick, non‑invasive solution, tinted film is a solid option.
