Today, curtains are not just a functional element but a key accent in interior design. Current trends combine simplicity, sustainability, and technology.

Materials: natural fabrics are in high demand — linen, cotton, rough-weave fabric and silk. Blended fabrics with bamboo or viscose fibres are also popular. Textured materials (bouclé, chenille, coarse linen) add depth and tactile comfort.

Colour palette leans towards natural shades:

• beige tones (from milky white to sand);
• earthy hues (terracotta, ochre);
• muted greens (olive, pistachio);
• grey and graphite shades.

Bold colours are used sparingly as accents (deep blue, dark green).

Shapes and cuts emphasise minimalism:

• floor‑length straight panels without excessive pleating;
• Roman blinds — sleek and functional;
• roller blinds — compact and convenient;
• Japanese panels — for space zoning.

Patterns and prints have become more restrained:

• geometric lines and simple checks;
• abstract watercolour blends;
• stylised botanical motifs (leaves, branches);
• colour blocking (combining 2–3 large colour blocks).

Technologies are being integrated into textiles:

• electric drives for curtain control (remote, smartphone, voice commands);
• automated scenarios (opening in the morning, closing during heatwaves);
• blackout fabrics and metallic coatings for thermal insulation and light blocking.

Key selection principles:

• length — floor‑length (+1–2 cm for a slight «pooling» effect);
• coordination with the main colour scheme of the interior;
• quality of fabric and hardware (durability, shape retention after washing).

In summary, modern curtains strike a balance between aesthetics, comfort, and functionality. Minimalist design, natural materials, and smart solutions create harmonious spaces where textiles serve as expressive yet understated elements of interior decor.
