PVC Window Maintenance: Simple Rules for Long Service Life

Regular maintenance extends window lifespan by 15–20 years. Key rules:

Cleaning

• Wash the profile with warm water and neutral soap; avoid abrasives and solvents.
• Clean glass with a lint‑free cloth and ammonia‑free cleaner.
• Clear drainage holes of dust and leaves twice a year.

Hardware Maintenance

• Lubricate moving parts (hinges, locks) 1–2 times a year with specialised lubricants (not oil!).
• Monitor handles: tighten screws if loose.

What Not to Do

• Leave sashes open in strong wind.
• Hang heavy objects on handles.
• Use metal scrapers to clean glass.

When to Call a Technician
If you notice:

• air leakage around the perimeter;
• condensation inside the double‑glazed unit;
• difficulty opening sashes.
