The main advantage of plastic windows is relatively inexpencive price with excellent characteristics. Their relatively low cost is a consequence of the availability of raw materials (PVC is made from oil and salt). PVC profile is obtained by extrusion, which is one of the most economical methods of producing plastics. In the production process PVC is heated to melting temperature and extruded through a hole with the desired cross-section. Thereafter, the resultant profile is cooled by using cold water. After the profile is hardened, it is cut into pieces of desired size.
Physical characteristics of PVC windows are apart from the competition. They have a much lower thermal conductivity comparing to wood, great durability and chemical resistance. The primacy in the production of quality profile belongs to Germany. As from this country a triumphal procession of plastic windows around the world started, there was accumulated the most significant industrial experience.
An important factor in the growing popularity of synthetic materials is a constant cost increasing of natural ones. If the windows use high-quality wood that do not crack and provide a reliable insulation, it will cost several times more expensive than plastic. That is why in standard houses are usually installed wooden frames of the low quality made of cheap wood, plus they are often made using outdated technologies. Taking all the above into account it is easy to notice that today PVC can not find worthy competitors in the manufacture of window frames. Today we can say that PVC windows are ideal windows.
