Curtains in Provence style: the subtleties of selection.

Simple tailoring is a sign of French style in the design of curtains but it is usually accompanied by plenty of additional elements in the form of bows, ruffles, tassels and frills. The fabric should be light, creating a feeling of weightlessness. The most popular in France are batiste, cotton, linen and chintz. You can also use organza and chiffon, as they create proper feeling of lightness and transparency necessary for this style. 

Fancy curtains with floral motifs give the room a spring freshness and romance. Curtains decorated with patterns of flowers typical for the South of France: poppies, lavender, roses look really great. These drawings look very nice but in a large space they may not be visible, so this option is ideal for small bedrooms or kitchen windows. 

Too large patterns are not typical for Provencal style, they can add unnecessary "weight" to the interior, while the ease and plenitude of light are its main feature. Simple plain fabric or fabric with a small pattern will look much more appropriate.
