PVC windows: myths vs reality

Continuing the topic started in the previous article, we will try to clear other misconceptions about plastic windows. 

- The plastic window is completely sealed design. Although PVC window is much more airtight than wooden one, it is still not absolute. The tightness of plastic sindows is quite sufficient to prevent drafts and significantly reduce the volume of the external sounds. 

- The thicker the glass, the better. 

In fact, the distance between the panes in the glazing has a certain optimum. This is due to the action of physical laws of heat transfer and heat exchange. Increasing this distance leads to a decrease of glazing's energy efficiency. To install windows with a number of chamber more than two, hardly makes sense in conditions of Egypt. In most cases, one chamber is enough. 

- I need a profile with lots of chambers. 

In fact, the presence in the profile of three, four or five chambers is almost has no impact on the characteristics of your windows. 

- Best windows are filled with argon. 

In fact, the thermal conductivity of air and argon inside the glazing differs by a few percent. By itself, argon is quite expensive and requires special equipment. In this case, the benefit is dubious. In addition, you will not be able to check what is really inside your glazing: air or argon. And these are quite able to take advantage of unscrupulous manufacturers.
