Features of windows with movable mullions.

It is clear from name that these windows have movable mullion which is a special profile attached to the sash. Due to this, when closing a window sash overlap each other to lock them in the closed position and to provide tightness. Its functions similar to the functions of mullion in standard constructions, but the lock is not  fixed in the frame but in the sash. 

Movable mullion is extremely strong, as when the window is closed, it plays the role of a central mullion and the reliability of the  whole design depends on it. For its improvement it is necessary to use reinforcement. 

In the standard design, sashes perform their functions independently from each other. As for windows with movable mullions, their opening is possible only in a certain sequence. Firstly must be opened the sash without movable mullion and then the sash with movable mullion. The first sash can be tilt and turn and the second - only turn. The lock of such window is fixed to the opposite sash, not in the central mullion.
