The influence of the material from which made the window on its ability to "breathe" too much exaggerated.
Usually we strongly exaggerate the impact of the material from which windows are produced on their ability "to breathe"
We think that wood "breathe" because it is natural material but actually wooden windows are breathable mostly because of loose joints between frame and wall and between sashes. If you are an owner of old wooden windows it means you got used to draughts and it is possible that after installation of new plastic window you can feel a lack of fresh air. But it is really easy to let the fresh air in: just open your new windows two times daily.
Tilt and turn window make ventilation process much more comfortable as you can fix the sash at desired position depending on the weather outside. So you can easily regulate the amount of fresh air entering the room.
