Sayantika Mukherjee and Jason Heikenfeld are international leaders in the development sthat connected with adaptive optics, electronic paper and use of color in the displays of electronic devices. Over the years they have made a breakthrough that is associated with the brightness, color saturation and speed of operation of such displays.
The team's task was to start using this technology which was common in electronic paper and electronic displays of our mobile and computer devices, to a bigger surfaces such as windows, and to make it that way to manufacturing was inexpensive, less than $ 30 for square foot, which is the industry standard in the manufacture of windows.
- In principle, one color has one charge, another color - whatever else and we apply the voltage to the reflection or penetration of the color in different positions. The basic technology have no difference from what our group has demonstrated previously in electronic display devices. More difficult task was to find the appropriate structure of the device for applying the technology with the greater surface area of the window in such a way that the product was inexpensive and fairly simple. The most important thing for us was to realize the potential of several selective but persuasive modes, such as a change color temperature or a personal tone, - explained the scientists
