New polymer for the sealer manufacture.

The sealer is almost unnoticeable and occuping a small area element of a window construction. The tightness of the window is ensured thanks to it. Recently, researchers from the United States brought to the attention of the public a self-healing plastic for production of this important detail.

One of the largest U.S. petrochemical enterprises for the production of polymers LyondellBasell has received award in the category "Innovative material" in connection with the invention of a new self healing thermoplastic polymer. This material, when heated changes its state from solid to viscous. This material is manufactured using different types of plastics and can be used in a variety of areas. 

The new material can be used for the production of window seals and various types of glazing. Being cut into pieces of desired size, such a seal is fixed on the frame or glass of ordinary tap, with no need for glue or special tools. Also does not require a preliminary surface treatment. When cutting the material is melted, allowing you to connect it with the surface before it cools and will return to its original properties. 
At the moment the best are silicone and rubber sealers, since they do not change their properties when the temperature changes. The properties of the new material in this respect is insufficiently investigated.
